What’s our approach?
Small business marketing can be a minefield – a big, dangerous, confusing, expensive minefield.
There’s tons and tons of insanity to avoid – whether it’s hiring multiple freelancers (where the whole marketing effort can be a little disjointed – with confused messaging, ugly and inconsistent assets and incoherent tracking); hiring a posh agency who love to talk strategy and want draconian fixed term contracts and thousands and thousands of your hard-earned money; or doing it all yourself and perhaps being a little lost or off-base as to what will resonate with your customers or the press.
That’s why we exist – putting the Sanity into small business marketing.
Small business marketing shouldn’t be just ‘going through the motions’ and rigid – it should be result-focused and adaptable– so we have tens of services you can choose from (either one-off services or monthly rolling) – most of them working together and complimenting each other nicely (marketing works best when it flows).
Good marketing for small businesses shouldn’t be expensive – it’s not rocket science – so we charge low fees to our small business clients.
Small business marketing shouldn’t be a gamble – we’ve worked with (and continue to work with) hundreds and hundreds of people just like you – so we have a good feel for what works and what doesn’t (check out our testimonials and case studies). All these clients also gives us tons of clout with journalists with plenty of stories, expert comments and review opportunities to offer (that’s why we offer Pay Per Results PR – we know we can deliver and we like to put our money where our mouth is).
And that’s why we proudly use the slogan: Putting the Sanity into small business marketing.
Where most small businesses (and marketing agencies representing small businesses) go wrong is that they focus on the minutiae.
That usually means they force themselves onto social media audiences and/or the media (with a blatant disregard for what the audiences want) and/or they focus too much on an ‘ideal’ customer (“my customer is 34, likes bananas, has 2 kids, drives a blue Mercedes and hates small dogs”) disregarding all others; as well as throwing away more mass-appeal opportunities that will better help attract said ‘ideal’ customer.
Start with what your marketing goals are and work back from there – looking at how we can use mass-marketing and broad audiences to make all your marketing dreams come true (no matter how unique / rare your customers are).
Stop squinting and open those beautiful eyes – it’s bigger picture all the way !
With all that in mind – it’s about offering journalists, social media users and the world what they want – all the while by promoting your agenda (your business and your marketing goals). What better way is there to do that than by offering … content?
Content is the new currency and most small businesses are rich. Don’t sit just on it not realising what value you have there.
Share the wealth, baby – get what you want from it – and cash those cheques.
Just don’t get bogged down in the minutiae – offer it all, show it all, talk about it (regardless of what it is) – collect those backlinks, exposure (brand awareness), website traffic, sales and cash in. As long as the ‘content’ isn’t damaging to you or your ‘brand’ – offer it out like free candy!
Not only that – but recycle your content – get it out there. Use it for social media posts, social media ads, blogs, press releases, newsletters… get it out there and ride it until the wheels fall off!
We don’t like to be busy fools – working our little bottoms off and achieving nothing. Small businesses can’t afford for their marketing to not have a strong ROI. So for us – it’s all about results.
With that in mind, we’re proud of our Pay Per Results PR offering (damn proud!) and our other services are equally results-focused – with the results clearly labelled and achievements clearly updated back to you.
In fact, we are so obsessed with results that we are continually inventing more and more ways for our services to be Pay Per Results – so watch this space!
We’re growers not showers. We want to grow alongside our small business clients and build a strong, mutually beneficial relationship.
We don’t want to support the big boys – we’ve done it. It’s a lot of waffle and not many results. We love our small business clients – the ones we’ve taken from concept to thriving; the ones we can be proud to support; the ones where we make a real difference; the ones we can have a lovely natter to on a Friday afternoon. Let the big brands keep their huge monthly budgets and fancy copyrighted logos.
Small business is the backbone of any economy and we’ve honoured to support our fellow small businesses – and to grow together in a strong, happy partnership.
